Eulate celebrates Shepherd’s Day this Saturday with an attractive program of activities at the foot of the Urbasa mountain range

Grazing is a way of life in Tierra Estella. A tradition that is also sustainable, which endures today with a lot of effort in the beautiful surroundings of the Amescoa Valley. To learn about and pay tribute to this ancient craft, Eulate hosts this Saturday, October 12, the Shepherd’s Day-Artzai Egunaan event in which, coinciding with the holiday, you can enjoy a attractive activity program in this town at the foot of Urbasa.

– Craft and product market.

– Amescoa Cheese Fair.

– Exhibition: ‘From the sheep to the needles’.

– Exhibition: ‘Latxa sheep, goats, donkeys and shepherd dogs’.

– Exhibition of grazing implements and photographs.

– Sheep shearing.

– Cheese making.

– Demonstration of leather tanning.

– Inflatables and triki.

  • 1:30 p.m.: tribute, raffle of cheeses and other local products.
  • 15:00: popular food with musical dessert.
  • 7:00 p.m.: ball games.
  • 9:00 p.m.: astronomical activity ‘Astroruralízate’.

Throughout the morning, a traveling oral storytelling show ‘Shepherding Stories’ will take place. Likewise, tickets for the raffle and t-shirts will be sold.

The festive day will feature a parking with places for people with reduced mobility, there will be public bathrooms and a rest area. All information to improve accessibility and inclusion is in the location map.

The event is organized by the Tierra Estella-Lizarraldea Tourism Consortium together with the Améscoas Limitations Board. This festive day aims to promote the valley, publicize the pastoral culture and highlight the excellent gastronomic product, the Amescoa cheese.
