Foreign Minister Eui-yong Eui finished the first phone call after taking office with US Secretary of State Anthony Blincoln.

– On the 12th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a call on the same day that the Minister and the Secretary had exchanged opinions on mutual interests such as US-ROK relations, issues on the Korean Peninsula, and regional and global issues.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “The Minister and the Secretary reaffirmed that the ROK-US alliance is the core axis of peace, stability, and prosperity in Northeast Asia, the Indo-Pacific region, and the world, and continues to develop the ROK-US alliance to contribute to responding to global issues and promoting shared values. I decided to let it go,” he said.
He also said, “We have decided to hold high-level consultations to discuss issues between the two countries as soon as possible.”
The Minister and the Secretary are planning to work closely together for the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
They also agreed that it is important to continue cooperation between the US and Japan, and shared concerns about the recent Myanmar situation.
