Euboea: 4 lightning fires – Airlifted – 2024-09-01 06:58:43

Four fires broke out at noon on Friday in Evia.

According to the announcement of the Fire Department, the fires were caused by lightning in the areas of the municipality of Kymi – Aliveri and Eretria in Evia.

35 firefighters with 14 vehicles are working to extinguish the fires.

3 aircraft and 1 helicopter were mobilized from the air.

It is recalled that earlier it became known that a fire has broken out in a forest area in the Mistros area of ​​Evia.

According to the Fire Department, the fire broke out around 12:20 p.m., also possibly due to lightning, while it does not threaten any settlement.

According to information from evima.gr, the fire was caused in the Agios Fanourios area by a lightning strike near the village of Mistros, where the five firefighters were killed in 2007.

To extinguish it, 22 firefighters with a pedestrian group of the 4th EMODE, 6 vehicles, 3 aircraft and 1 helicopter were mobilized. Subscriptions are provided by local water bodies.
