European Union by 24 October may exclude Ukraine from the “green” listwhich includes countries with a low prevalence of COVID-19. The list includes states for whose citizens the EU recommends lifting restrictions on entry.
Radio Liberty journalist Rikard Jozvyak wrote about this with a reference to his own sources on his page in Twitter… According to him, the reason for this decision is an increase in the number of new patients with coronavirus in the country.
“This week, Ukraine will be removed from the EU’s recommended safe travel list. It (Ukraine – Ed.) Was added in mid-July, but a spike in recent cases means the country will no longer be included in it,” it said.
Note that the decision on the countries that are included in the list of the “green COVID zone” is made by the Council of the European Union. The last time, on October 8, the list was added two more countries – United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
There are 18 countries in the list. It was created in order to recommend countries of the European Union and the Schengen area gradually loosen or remove travel restrictions all residents of countries from the list.
As of Monday morning, October 18, in Ukraine it is officially confirmed 2 644 694 a case of coronavirus infection. Only for the past day was recorded 9524 new cases… At the same time, over the past week, 105 thousand cases of infection were detected, which is 11% more than a week earlier.
The Ministry of Health admitted that the incidence rate continues to grow in the country, but the peak of COVID-19 is expected at the end of October and until mid-November.
In connection with the outbreak of coronavirus from October 18, four more regions of Ukraine ended up in the “red” quarantine zone, where the Kherson region was already located. These are Zaporozhye, Odessa, Donetsk and Dnepropetrovsk regions. At the same time, restrictions are being tightened in other regions without going over to the “red” level.
As reported OBOZREVATEL, immunologist Boris Donskoy said that the medical system of Ukraine is threatened with collapse due to the surge in COVID-19. According to him, the country needs to speed up the vaccination of pensioners and introduce restrictions for people from risk groups.
