EU wants to open borders for China and 14 other countries

Brussels. The EU wants to lift the entry ban imposed by 15 third countries as a result of the corona crisis. China is said to be one of them if Beijing in return allows EU citizens to enter the country again. The EU ambassadors agreed on this late Friday evening, as it was said in diplomatic circles.

The list of countries for which the EU should be banned includes Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay and China. The starting point of the discussions was that from July there should be easing for countries with a similar infection rate as the states of the European Union, according to informed circles in Brussels.

In order for the decision to enter into force, all 27 EU countries must agree in writing by 6 p.m. on Saturday evening. This was necessary because many delegations still needed the green light from their capitals, it said.
