EU Summit in Brussels: Negotiations for 50 Billion Euro Financial Support for Ukraine

Most likely, long and difficult negotiations await the heads of states and governments of the European Union, who are gathering today in Brussels for a special summit to once again decide on long-term financial support for Ukraine worth 50 billion euros.

This will be the second attempt to reach an agreement after it failed at the December summit over the objections of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. All the efforts and attempts of the leaders of other EU countries during the month to convince V. Orban to give up his veto on this issue have not been successful so far. The Hungarian government has only signaled that it could agree to a financial aid package for Ukraine if it were reviewed annually. However, other EU member states do not want to end up in a situation where it would be necessary to fight again and again every year to convince Hungary to support Ukraine.
