An agreement was reached between EU member states on sanctions against Russia on Thursday night, writes Spiegel. According to the paper, the sanctions affect the energy sector, the financial sector and the transport sector. Sanctions also include export regulations for some products and restrictions on visa policy.

Josep Borrell, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, called the measure the toughest package of sanctions ever.
