EU Revokes Permit Regime for Ukrainian Transport Companies: Protesters Demand Restoration

Following Russia’s repeated invasion of Ukraine, the European Union (EU) revoked the permit regime for Ukrainian transport companies to enter the bloc. Polish protesters are demanding that the entry permit regime be restored for Ukrainian competitors, a demand that Kyiv has rejected.

The Ministry of Transport of Ukraine announced that tripartite talks between the Ukrainian and Polish infrastructure ministries and the European Commission (EC) transport department took place on Wednesday at the Dorohusk border crossing.

“The main demand of the protesters is a return to the permit system. This demand cannot be met,” Kijiva said.

“The agreement on the liberalization of cargo transportation between Ukraine and the EU will be valid at least until June 30 of next year,” Kyiv said, adding that the Polish protesters do not accept the proposals and the parties continue to search for solutions.

Kyiv emphasizes that the protests harm the economy of both Poland and Ukraine.
