You probably have to explain the problem with Roger Federer so that everyone really gets it. So if the Swiss tennis star was not allowed to take part in the international tennis tournaments, but was only allowed to play at home, but received the same prize money – would Federer and the tennis world be satisfied with that? The thought experiment comes from the Swiss Michael Hengartner, no tennis expert, but President of the Council of the renowned Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology. The answer to Hengartner’s question is obvious: not only Federer, but practically the whole world would regret that. “It’s not about the money, it’s about the prestigious competition,” said Hengartner at a recent conference.
