EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell stressed that EU members will continue to support Ukraine in the war with Russia, despite speculation about possible “fatigue”.
Borrell said this following an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Stockholm on Friday.European truth“.
The top diplomat of the European Union stressed that during the 15 months of the war, Russia has not abandoned its intention to “subjugate” Ukraine and continue to destroy it. Therefore, it is important to provide long-term tools to support Kyiv in addition to the short-term ones that currently exist.
“And I want to send a clear signal to Putin: there is and will not be any fatigue. We will continue to support Ukraine for as long as it needs and for as long as it needs,” Borrell stressed.
He stressed that in the current situation, Ukraine cannot give up the fight, because it threatened its existence as a nation, but Russia does not want to do this.
“Many people say they want peace. We want it. And those who want peace more than anyone else are Ukrainians. Ukrainians want peace. We want peace. But we don’t want capitulation. We don’t want Ukraine became the second Belarus,” the top EU diplomat stressed.
Earlier, Borrell said that Beijing, although it remains an important partner of Brussels, already lost the opportunity to mediate in the war unleashed by Russia.
