At the same time, the European Union notes that the opening of the embassy in Afghanistan will not mean that the EU has recognized the Taliban’s authority. However, the final decision on the resumption of the diplomatic mission has not yet been made.
“We can confirm that we are working to establish a minimum presence on the ground. For security reasons, we cannot go into details,” said EU spokesman Nabila Massrali.
She added that at first it will only be the EU embassy, but member states will be able to join if they wish.
“As for who will guarantee the safety of our employees, the options available are still being explored,” Massrali said.
Recall that the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) announced the establishment of a special trust fund to provide economic assistance to the population of Afghanistan.
