Prosecutors are trying to determine the main motive behind a Tunisian man shooting three Swedes in Brussels on Monday, killing two of them, before a football match between Belgium and Sweden in the capital.

The war, which began on October 7, has become the bloodiest of the five Gaza wars for both sides, as today the number of civilian casualties in Gaza has reached no less than 3,500 people, the majority of whom are children, and more than 12,000 were injured during the eleven days. past, according to health authorities in Gaza.

While more than 1,400 people were killed in Israel, Hamas captured at least 199 others, including children, and transported them to Gaza, according to Israeli authorities.

European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas said: “We have to deal with the multiple impacts of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, and part of this is assessing all the possible consequences for us in the European Union.”

“This entails protecting our Jewish communities, but also protecting against a generalized climate of Islamophobia that has no place in our society,” he told reporters in Luxembourg, where the meeting is being held.

Pro-Palestinian marches have been organized in several European cities since the beginning of the war, such as France, Britain, Germany, Portugal, and others.

Germany also promised to take tougher measures against Hamas, which is already included on the European Union’s list of terrorist organizations. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said: “We will never accept attacks against Jewish institutions.”

In France, the Palace of Versailles, one of the main tourist attractions, and three airports were evacuated for security reasons and temporarily closed on Wednesday. These attacks came in the wake of the killing of a teacher, in the northern city of Arras on Friday, by a suspected Islamic extremist. The threats have so far been proven to be false.
