The indicators are on the rise in Normandy
In Normandy, indicators of Covid-19 contamination are on the rise again. In the Sister Cities and Dieppe sectors, the situation remains stable, even if “at the moment, the occupation of beds made available to people with Covid-19 is high in our territory. There is no longer any decrease ”explains Franck Estève, director of the Eu hospital and deputy director of the Caux-Maritime hospital group.
In the 21 beds of the Covid-19 device, 17 people were hospitalized on Tuesday January 5, 2021, including 5 in intensive care in Dieppe. 9 other people are also receiving follow-up care and post-Covid rehabilitation. “We should already have the cases likely to have been infected at Christmas, and we do not see a real increase. Now, we are potentially awaiting the effects of the period of December 31, which will depend on the behavior of people ”. Franck Estève also adds that there is no alert on the territory concerning the new strain discovered in Great Britain.

Faced with the delay taken by the health authorities in France on vaccination, the director of the hospital puts it into perspective. “Finally, to have this vaccine in early January, it’s a good thing. For a while, we were told about spring ”.
In the Ehpads, the vaccines will be administered by the doctors and nurses directly in the room. A mobile team, which will travel throughout the GHT, will also be there as reinforcements.
“Better to be vaccinated than to go to intensive care”
It will then be the turn of health personnel to benefit from the vaccine. “In Eu, we don’t have very high vaccination rates for influenza. If we have 50% of staff who are vaccinated, that would be a good number. I hope it will be more important ”explains the director.
In general, the latter believes that it is important that as many people as possible get vaccinated: “It is always better to be vaccinated than to go to intensive care”.
