EU Court Rejects Claim of Pumpyansky Sr., Excludes Pumpjanski Jr. from Sanctions List

In October, the General Court of the EU rejected the claim of Pumpyansky Sr., at the same time refusing to lift the sanctions imposed on his wife Galina and son Aleksandar, “Forbes” magazine reminds.

Pumpjanskis Jr. has now been excluded from the EU sanctions list, but the request for moral compensation has been rejected.

The European Council must reimburse only court costs, according to “Forbes”.

Aleksandrs Pumpjanskis left the management of the companies “Sinara” and TMK immediately after the imposition of sanctions.

The European Council failed to adequately prove that the claimant maintained connections with his father, as well as with the mentioned companies, the EU court ruled.

He can no longer be considered a natural person who “provides material and financial support to the Government of the Russian Federation,” The Bell quoted the decision as saying.

Pumpjanski Jr. is a citizen of Switzerland. As recently as last summer, he complained to the Swiss newspaper “Blick” that because of the sanctions, he cannot service the mortgage loan and buy products, but the mobile operator “Swisscom” has disconnected his phone.
