EU Authorities Intend to Prohibit Importers from Reselling Goods to Russia: Bloomberg Update

“Bloomberg” writes that the EU authorities intend to prohibit importers from reselling various goods, including semiconductors, to Russia. Semiconductors can be used in the production of new weapons.

At the same time, the new restrictions provide that importers will pay a certain amount of deposit, which will ensure the implementation of sanctions. In case of non-observance of the restrictions, at least half of the deposit money account will be directed to the support of Ukraine.

The EU also plans to require exporters to inform national authorities of any attempts by companies from third countries to circumvent the established restrictions.

The representatives of the large EU member states are said to have questioned the legality of this proposal. “Bloomberg” writes that these countries want to reduce the scale of the proposed sanctions and reduce the list of goods that will be sanctioned.

Specific countries are not specified.
