–The head of the vaccination department of the European Union institution, Marco Cavaleri, told Italian radio that Brussels was considering the use of the Russian drug to prevent the contagious disease. “We will be happy if this vaccine is distributed to all members of the Community. At the same time, however, we must complete all the necessary tests,” he said.
According to Cavalieri, the studies could be finalized by the end of April.
When asked if the European Medicines Agency could give the green light to Sputnik V in early May, the official said: The probability is high.
“On March 4, 2021, the institution announced the launch of research on Sputnik V on several indicators (efficacy, side effects, quality, etc.),” the quoted media said.
At this stage, two EU countries have approved Sputnik V – Hungary and Slovakia. Italy announced last week that it plans to start producing the Russian vaccine in July.
