The leaders of the countries of the European Union will discuss Kyiv’s application for membership on June 23-24 in Brussels, writes Bloomberg.
All 27 member states of the European Union intend to officially grant Ukraine the status of a candidate to join the bloc. This was announced on June 20 by the agency Bloomberg with reference to sources.
It is noted that at the meeting of EU ambassadors on Monday, no one objected to this decision, but the wording regarding the status of Kyiv has not yet been formalized in writing.
According to Bloomberg, EU leaders will discuss Ukraine’s bid for membership on June 23-24 at a meeting in Brussels.
In addition, the bloc intends to grant candidate status to Moldova, as well as Georgia, if it fulfills certain additional conditions.
Recall that last week the European Commission recommended to the European Council grant Ukraine candidate status to EU members with subsequent taking the necessary steps.
