Cars: EU agreement on Euro 7 emissions, more time for application – Il Sole 24 ORE

EU sources have confirmed that there is a general agreement between governments for the Euro 7 rules on polluting emission standards from vehicles, which will be used in negotiations with the European Parliament. The most important innovation, as far as we know, concerns the extension of the period within which the new provisions will be applied: for cars two and a half years after the entry into force of the regulation instead of two years. The Euro 7 provisions will be the first in the world on emissions to not limit themselves to regulating exhaust gas emissions, setting additional limits for particulate emissions produced by brakes and parameters relating to microplastic emissions caused by tyres; these provisions will apply to all vehicles, including electric ones. The negotiating position will be voted on by EU competitiveness and industry ministers next Monday in Brussels.
