Ettenheim: No special regulation for Rust – Ettenheim

After consulting with the Mayor of Rust, Kai-Achim Klare, Weiß again turned to the state finance ministry in order to reach a special regulation for Rust at least when granting the credit line. “Despite the compensatory aid from the federal and state governments, there is a deficit of 5.2 million euros in Rust. That completely unbalances the entire budget of a community of this size,” emphasizes Weiß.

Therefore, in this exceptional situation, the rules for borrowing would have to be relaxed temporarily for Rust. “I am convinced that Rust will also get back on its feet financially when it comes to trade tax,” the Bundestag member is convinced. But until then, it must be possible to bridge the gap with appropriate loans, which can also be used to offset a deficit in the budget.

Weiss therefore hopes for a special regulation by the state that will actually help the Rust local politics.

SPD member of the Bundestag Johannes Fechner had also asked the state for cheap loans for communities like Rust. In November he called for interest-free state aid for communities like Rust. Fechner justifies the waiver of interest with what he sees as the incorrect approach of the state to compensate for the trade tax losses differently than other federal states.
