“The business figures have opened up the possibility of reinstalling a notary’s office in Ettenheim for southern Ortenau and northern Breisgau,” said Justice Minister Guido Wolf at today’s press release in Ettenheim’s town hall.
The minister, who is also responsible for tourism, was out and about in the region with Marion Gentges, member of the state parliament, and used the visit to an Ettenheim winery to personally deliver the good news.
“We have an eye on the overall supply and have found that the establishment of a notary’s office in Ettenheim meets the needs of those seeking law,” added Wolf.
“I was very committed to the Ettenheim location,” explained Marion Gentges. “The city and the entire region are grateful for this step,” said the member of the state parliament.
“The job advertisement is good news for Ettenheim,” said Mayor Bruno Metz. He also thanked Justice Minister Wolf for having kept his promise to re-examine the need.
“The establishment of the new notary’s office is an example of how rural areas can not only lose but also gain.
The city will be happy to help the new notary find office space, the mayor promised.
The new notary position will be advertised on November 19th. It is hoped to have found a suitable applicant by December 14th. In the past two years, the notarial offices in Haslach and Lahr have processed the cases to be notarized.
After cases were recorded in Lahr in 2019 and 1,748 cases in Haslach, the ministry saw a need to set up an additional notary’s office to relieve the burden.
The choice fell on the city of Ettenheim, which is in the Ortenau, but also in the area of the Freiburg Regional Court.
