In the Zaporozhye direction, 50 ethnic Dagestanis from the Caspian flotilla refused to fight against Ukraine and disabled the weapons in the unit. This is stated in message General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the military, against the backdrop of successful offensive operations by the defense forces and due to significant losses in the Russian manpower, the cases of desertion in the units of the Russian occupation forces are increasing.
The occupiers are increasingly leaving their positions without permission.
In particular, about 50 servicemen of ethnic Dagestanis from the Caspian flotilla, in the area of the village of Dorozhnyanka, Zaporozhye region, refused to participate in hostilities.
In addition, according to the General Staff, Russian refuseniks disabled the weapons in the unit.
On June 22, 2023, the General Staff reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were continuing their offensive against Melitopol, Berdyansk and Kremennaya. The center at the Ministry of Defense said that the Russians can use the reserves to launch counterattacks. Minister of Defense Alexey Reznikov stated that the de-occupation by the Defense Forces of a number of settlements in the south and east is not the “main event” of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.
