The annual race was threatened with cancellation, due to regional circumstances in the Middle East, but the association organizing the “Beirut Marathon” insisted on holding it despite “the challenges and dangers facing Lebanon and Palestine,” according to what was stated in the association’s statement.
14,399 male and female runners, representing 105 countries around the world, participated in the race.
Dikita increased the race record by 7 seconds, as the previous record was recorded by the Ethiopian Dominic Ruto in 2017 and the Moroccan Mohamed El-Arabi in 2018, and Al-Balaa’s time was 2:10:41.
Dikita outperformed his compatriot Gojam Blainey Aya, who covered the race distance (42.195 km) in a time of 2:12:55 hours, and Kenyan Rotish Mitai John came (third in a time of 2:17:24 hours).
My nation achieved the same thing; She set a new race record after the previous one was held by Bahraini Eunice Shumba in 2017, with a time of 2:28:38.
Ethiopian Getty Dokal Ruby came in second place with a time of 2:29:08 hours, and her compatriot Asmara Bayani Asif completed the Ethiopian control of the race by coming in third with a time of 2:30:38 hours.
