Ethiopian Airlines announces the resumption of direct flights between Abidjan and New York

(Ecofin Agency) – Suspended due to Covid-19, direct services between New York and Abidjan provided by Ethiopian Airlines will be open again now that the health crisis has subsided.

Ethiopian Airlines will resume direct services between Félix Houphouët-Boigny airports in Abidjan and John F. Kennedy airports in New York as of May 29, 2023. Flights will be operated 4 times a week, namely Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday between Addis- Ababa and New York via Abidjan.

Launched in June 2019, service to New York was suspended in March 2020 due to Covid-19. “We have increased frequencies and added new destinations in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia over the past 2 months. We are delighted that the Abidjan-New York line is available again,” said Mesfin Tasew, CEO of the company.

New York will be the 5th destination operated in the USA by Ethiopian, which plans to add another stopover from May 16, 2023. The company currently serves more than 130 international destinations for the transport of passengers and goods, including Abidjan which has been part of its network since November 1980.
