/ world today news/ The former president of Ethiopia Mulatu Teshome studied higher education in China and received a doctorate from Peking University. After returning home, his relationship with China continued. In 2013, Teshome was elected president of Ethiopia and his first official visit abroad was to China.
In an exclusive interview with the China Media Group, Teshome shared that every time he returns to China, he feels at home. He considers China his “second homeland” and remembers his teachers, fellow students and roommates.
The former Ethiopian president adds that his country has a lot to learn from China, putting its citizens at the center of importance, planning its development according to the interests of the people and ensuring workable reforms and development.
Ethiopia is grateful for the opportunity to join BRICS and will benefit from cooperation with China, India, Russia and Brazil. The country will also work to comprehensively strengthen ties between the countries in the BRICS cooperation mechanism.
