Ethiopia has announced an indefinite humanitarian truce in the civil war between government troops and rebels in the Tigray area, in the north of the country.
The insurgents have responded that if humanitarian aid enters they will declare a ceasefire. The World Food Program has said it is ready to distribute food to the more than five million people who depend on its assistance after 16 months of armed conflict.
