Barcelona, Oct 26 (EFE).- Ethical finance placed 1,924 million euros in loans during 2022 in projects that had a social impact plan, benefiting more than 186,000 users and with a default rate of 1.22%.
This is shown by this year’s Ethical and Solidarity Finance Barometer, with data corresponding to the year 2022, promoted by the Ethical Finance Observatory and the association Fets – Finançament Ètic i Solidari.
As detailed by the promoters of the study in a statement, between 2021 and 2022, there has been a growth of 2.82% in the volume of loans granted through ethical finance, and for the first time the threshold of 1,900 has been exceeded. millions of euros borrowed.
The report also reveals that ethical savings have exceeded 2,590 million euros, figures that multiply by 19.44 the levels that occurred in 2007.
There have been around 186,000 users of ethical finance who, although they have access to more money, are 1.79% fewer beneficiaries than in the previous year.
Regarding delinquency, the phenomenon scores 1.22%, a figure below that of traditional banking, which registers levels higher than 4%.
“Although the loans are directed to an economy that is often excluded from the financial market, because it is considered high risk or has low economic performance, the reality is that projects that put people and the planet at the center are much more resilient and economically sustainable,” said the head of the Ethical Finance Observatory, Sergi Salavert.
The barometer of ethical and supportive finance is an annual snapshot of the evolution of this type of financial loans throughout Spain, and includes all entities that exceed 80% of the requirements to be considered providers of these services. EFE
