“Eternally Young”: A Latvian Debut Feature Film Supported by Ministry of Culture’s REACT-EU Fund.

In the middle of May, the filming period begins for one of the feature films, which received financial support for production in the NKC competition from the Ministry of Culture REACT-EU financial instrument of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), for the debut feature film “Eternally Young” by director Armand Začas.

The film tells the story of a group of friends in their twenties who are still looking for their own special place in the world. Their seemingly forever carefree life begins to unravel during the music festival – one of the company’s couples is meanwhile in the hospital expecting their first child. The action of the film takes place in the summer in the center of Riga and in the suburbs.

Armands Začs is not a new name in the Latvian film industry, his creative biography includes work as an editing director on important feature films – directed by Viesturas Kairis City by the river (2020) and January (2022), Restless minds (directors Raitis Ābele, Lauris Ābele) and others, including documentaries Farmers (2022, Ivars Seleckis), A spy who is my father (directors Jāks Kilmi, Gints Grūbe) etc. Armands Začs won two National Cinema Awards Great Kristaps for the best editing and has been nominated for the award several times, but in 2020 Začs together with Lieni Lindi received Kristaps the Great as the best documentary filmmakers on film Presence.

Armand Zača’s debut feature film Forever young the main roles are played by Emil Ralfs, Kārlis Zahovskis, Sabīne Tīkmane, Elza Gauja, Anton Barons, Jana Herbsta and Rihards Sniegs. Kaspars Zvīgulis, Kārlis Arnolds Avots, Dace Bonāte, Marija Bērziņa, Rūdolfs Kugrēns, Māra Sleja, Artis Dvarionas, Jana Čivžele, Asnate Rancāne and others will be seen in supporting roles.

The film is produced by the studio White Picturethe creative team includes producer Alise Ģelze (previously produced feature films Oleg (2019), I’m here (2016), Mom, I love you (2013) etc.), Estonian cameraman Eriks Pollumas (Scandinavian Silence, In The Crosswind), film artist Aivars Zhukovskis (Jelgava ’94, I’m here), costume designer Berta Vilipson, makeup artist Santa Sandule, composer Toms Auniņš (Neon Spring, Invisible / Invisible), sound director Ernests Ansons (My favorite war, Paradise ’89) and editing director Jorgos Zafeiris (Apples).

Movies Forever young admission will continue throughout the summer both in the districts of the center of Riga, as well as in Sigulda and Līgatne. The film is expected to be released in 2024.
