The Cuban Telecommunications Company SA (Etecsa) announced the first international recharge special to capture foreign currency in the month of April, offering a triple bonus for the modest amount of 75 Cuban pesos (CUP) from abroad.
According to a statement shared on social networks, the promotion will begin next Wednesday, April 3 and will last the rest of the month, ending on Tuesday the 30th.
The recharge promotion benefits users who have a Cubacel line and receive an international recharge for at least 75 CUP, receiving 8GB of mobile data, valid for all networks, in addition to 80 minutes of calls and 80 SMS.
These benefits will be valid for 30 days from the date the recharge is received. The state company points out that the data can be used for national and international navigation, so you can visit any site that has not been blocked by Etecsa.
In the case of minutes and SMS, these can be used to make calls and send messages inside and outside the Island, allowing many to stay connected with their loved ones abroad, as long as the company does not suspend services such as usually does during protests.
The state company, which is the only one in charge of telecommunications in the country, points out that data bonuses and call and message benefits will be accumulated with existing promotions, as long as these are still in force. This will allow users to make the most of their resources.
Etecsa made it clear that users will not receive the 75 CUP used for the promotion in their main balance.
“The 75 CUP is not received in the main balance,” he warned in the statement.

These recharges can only be made through the websites of international distributors authorized by Etecsa, and will not apply if they are made from the stores in MLC, or with the dollar account of the MiTransfer wallet.
Despite the great devaluation that the national currency has suffered, the state company continues to value the dollar at 25 CUP, so it will be necessary to top up at least three dollars (plus what the distributor charges for its services) in order to activate the promotion.
