Estoril’s Striker João Carlos: Contract, Goals, and Potential Transfers

The islanders tried to sign the Brazilian, who has been little used by Vasco Seabra, but whose goalscoring ability Estoril’s officials intend to maintain until the end of the season, when his contract ends.

The market has not yet opened in Estoril, at least officially: while the waiting period continues to officialize the signing of the Serbian Nemanja Jovic, approaches to the management of the Canarinhos have also arrived, either due to the greed that the main assets have been awakening or also due to the interest from other teams in trying to catch some of the less used elements, such as João Carlos, who has been the third option for the attacking front.

With the path to the starting line-up blocked by Alejandro Marqués and Cassiano, the 28-year-old striker is seen as a target of interest for several clubs, with A BOLA finding out that Marítimo, who is competing in League 2 this season, contacted the SAD of Estoril made the sense of seeking to hire him for a permanent agreement, but without success. Despite the athlete’s often residual use, he deserves all the trust from those responsible and the Estorilista technical team.

This Saturday, João Carlos completed precisely one month without officially competing, but his performance has been very interesting taking into account the few minutes of use – he scored four goals in eleven appearances, and among these…none were made as a starter. It is precisely there that the Brazilian’s production becomes most appreciable, as these eleven matches played result in just 151 minutes of use (less than two complete games), meaning he has a sensational average of goals per minute.

Four goals in 151 minutes of competition means a goal every little over 37 minutes, a record that several teams will be paying attention to… but also Vasco Seabra and his technical team, who will prefer to keep João Carlos in the Estorilista ranks. Given the circumstances, the Brazilian’s departure does not seem easy, as he is at the end of his contract and, therefore, a possible loan scenario does not represent any meaning for the Cascais Line emblem, which will not even listen to any offer in these molds.

Aware of this fact and convinced of the quality of the player, who stood out in League 2 with Académica two seasons ago, Marítimo tried to seduce Estoril with the salary savings that remain with the forward until the end of the contract, but the stance of those responsible for Estoril favors the sporting component. In other words, although at this moment it seems highly unlikely that João Carlos will renew, Estoril welcomes continuing to benefit from his sporting performance and, above all, the easy goal he presents.

João Carlos’s departure from the market until the end of the market is not, however, ruled out. However, Estoril only expects to lose the striker if an offer appears contemplating a last possibility of obtaining financial compensation for an athlete who is expected to leave Amoreira in June at the end of his contract. If this doesn’t happen, the Brazilian will remain until the end of the season… and Estoril fans will breathe a sigh of relief, as they will continue with the attack delivered to Marqués, Cassiano and João Carlos, all of unsuspected quality.
