Estonian Parliament Stands in Solidarity with Israel Against Terror – Rīga Kogi Statement

78 Rīga Kogi deputies voted for the statement in support of the state and people of Israel.

Rīgikogu states in its statement that murders of civilians, taking hostages and attacks on civilian objects are not justified. It stated that, according to the Nuremberg Charter, the planning, preparation, initiation or conduct of war in violation of international treaties, agreements or guarantees is a crime against peace.

The Estonian Parliament expresses its condolences to the State of Israel, its people and the relatives of the victims of the terrorist attack, and welcomes the efforts made to free the hostages, which have resulted in the release of some of the hostages.

In the draft statement, the Parliament also confirms that the State of Israel has the right and duty to defend itself until the end of the terrorist attacks by “Hamas”, the release of all hostages and the capture of the planners and perpetrators of the October 7 massacre, so that terror against Israel and its people does not happen again.

The Estonian Parliament expresses its hope that Israel will make quick progress in its military and anti-terrorist measures in the Gaza Strip, and states that it is extremely important for Israel’s future and peace in the region that the ongoing operations prevent civilian casualties and respect general international humanitarian law.
