On the 20th World Racket in Women’s Tennis, Estonian Aneta Kontaveita won the final of the Moscow “WTA 500” tournament on Sunday, winning the fourth title in her career. The Estonian, who was seeded with the ninth number in the tournament, defeated Russian tennis players Ekaterina Alexandrov in the final with 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.
Kontaveita did not lose any set until the final game, but started the final with a lost set, then won the other two. This is the third title for the contestant this season, but the fourth in his career. Earlier in August this year, the Estonian tennis player won the Cleveland “WTA 250” series tournament, beating the Romanian tennis player Irina Bec in the final, but at the end of September she won the Ostrava “WTA 500” tournament, defeating the Greek Maria Maria Sakari in the final.
This season, the Estonian has won 40 matches, but lost only 15. The victory in this tournament allows Kontaveita to keep the opportunity to qualify for the season-ending “WTA Finals” competition. It has already been reported that the first women’s tennis racket in Latvia, Alona Ostapenko, withdrew from the competition in the first round. Last year, the tournament in Moscow was canceled, but in 2019, the victory was won by Swiss tennis player Belind Benchic. The tournament in Moscow took place indoors on a hard surface.
