Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu accused the opposition Reform Party on Facebook of trying to discredit the state and government by proposing a referendum on joining Russia.
Earlier, deputies of the “Reform Party” resorted to this proposal in order to protest against the organization of a referendum on the concept of marriage in the country. Some of the Estonian politicians intend to approve marriage as a “union of a man and a woman,” the “Reform Party” opposed such a proposal as violating the rights of minorities.
Reinsalu noted that the reformists have come up with some more proposals that damage the Estonian authorities. This is a proposal to organize a referendum on the country’s withdrawal from NATO and a proposal to prohibit education in Estonian in Estonia.
“To summarize: in this context, unfortunately, this is a systematic information operation to discredit the state on the most sensitive issues for us from the point of view of security policy,” stressed the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
