Estonian Defense Forces General Warns of Russian Threat: “Absolutely” Preparing for War

The head of the Estonian Defense Forces, General Martin Herem, said at a meeting of the General Assembly of the Republic for military defense that Russia is “absolutely” preparing for war, but that Tallinn will be able to deal with aggression.

A high-ranking officer threatened Moscow that if Estonia was attacked, his subordinates would attack border cities in Leningrad and Pskov regions.

The general expressed confidence that Tallinn, with the support of NATO, will defeat Russia in the event of a military conflict. According to Herem, Estonia can move 43 thousand soldiers, which will cost two million euros to the budget. The official believes that this is “not that much money” for the security of the republic.

In addition to 43 thousand Estonian soldiers, Herem plans to attract NATO troops stationed in the republic to confront Russia.
