Estonia’s police and border authorities are ready to close the border with Russia, if the pressure on the border crossings increases, media in the country report.
On Thursday, 19 asylum seekers tried to cross the border from the Russian side without valid documents. All were rejected at the border crossing.
After Finland closed four border crossings with Russia, Estonian authorities believe that asylum seekers are being sent to the Estonian border instead. That’s what the Estonian broadcaster ERR writes.
Estonian Interior Minister Lauri Läänemets says they will coordinate their measures with Finnish authorities, according to Finnish broadcaster YLE.
