It has become known that the Estonian association “Around The Sun” will warm up the American-Canadian rock musician Grandson at Baltic concerts, including in Riga.
Grandson, whose real name is Jrdans Edwards Benjamin, will visit Latvia for the first time on October 19, performing at the “Palladium” concert hall. For a long time, there was intrigue as to who would warm him up, thereby gaining publicity for his musical career, and it turned out that the lucky lot fell to Estonians.
“Around The Sun” presents itself as an indie rock band from Tallinn that likes to experiment with electronics, while not shying away from classic guitar effects. Founded in 2016 and started gaining recognition by playing in the streets, as well as participating in various musical competitions and festivals. For example, in the Estonian annual competition of young performers and groups “Noortebänd”, “Eesti Laul 2019” (Estonian Eurovision selection), “Tallinn Music Week” etc. “Around The Sun” cooperates with various vocalists, creates joint songs and projects. This time they will be joined by the Estonian singer Inga Tislara.
As for grandson, his work combines blues and hard rock guitars, hip-hop-influenced beats and electronic music production with lyrics that delve into addiction and mental health issues, as well as everyday issues. Grandson’s latest album “I Love You, I’m Trying” was released on May 5. The musician himself says about this: “[Ar šo albumu] I am painting an intimate portrait of myself – the one I know. Covering topics such as self harm, family trauma, the hidden sides of life on the road and many more. This is the album I needed when I was 16. An album I was afraid to write and an album that fans deserve to hear. Above all, it’s an album where I face the fundamental question of whether I can handle the changes that life throws at me, and if that’s all there is to life, will that be enough for happiness?”
