In Estonia, the prevalence of Covid-19 has risen sharply this week, and according to Estonian experts themselves, the incidence exceeds 20 per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days, so it is likely that on Friday, September 11, Estonia will be included in the list of countries from which self-isolation must be observed, the Minister of Health Ilze Hänķele admitted to LTV “Panorama” (“For Development / Par!”).
In Lithuania, on the other hand, the spread of the virus is still below 16 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and it is possible that on Friday, when the national morbidity rates will be reviewed, Lithuania will still manage to be removed from the “list of self-isolating countries”.
On Friday, the morbidity threshold from which self-isolation must be observed will not be reviewed yet, it will remain at 16, but the government will have to decide on it next week, the minister acknowledged.
Lithuania has invited Latvia and Estonia to the so-called Baltic bubble to raise The 14-day cumulative Covid-19 morbidity threshold, which requires mandatory self-isolation when entering the country, is 16 to 25.
He said that the Estonian government had already made such a decision, although it would stipulate that it would be valid only for the residents of the Baltic States and Finland. Lithuania, for its part, called for a higher threshold for all countries.
She said that next week the government will have to decide on possible changes to the threshold, and the decision will not be easy.
The Minister said that it is easier for Lithuania and Estonia to make this decision, because they have more cases of infection, while Latvia still manages to successfully control the spread of the virus.
Joining the bubble with higher infection rates will be a difficult decision, and a clear economic stance against health and epidemiological security cannot be a solution, said Vickel.
She stressed that the government will have to make a very difficult decision, will have to evaluate the latest indicators. However, in her opinion, the absolute priority is to provide uninterrupted full-time education in schools, which is incomparably more important than maintaining the flow of autumn tourism, because parents can go to work, they do not have to worry about working from home.
CONTEXT:
