Estonian Armed Forces Minister Martin Herem threatened to destroy the Russian cities of Ivangorod and Pechory in the event of an armed conflict. He made a strong statement on national television.
– We will crush everyone who tries to influence us from a distance of 50 or 100 kilometers, as is happening today in Ukraine! We will destroy them not in Rakvere or Narva, but in Ivangorod, Pechory or somewhere there,” RIA Novosti quotes Herem as saying.
The Estonian leader has no doubts that the country will “win.” ” The main question is how “ugly” this effect will be.
Let’s remember that in February this year, Estonia refused to renew the residence permit of the head of the Estonian Orthodox Church in the Moscow Patriarchate, Evgeniy (Valery Reshetnikov). The decision was justified by the clergy’s pro-Russian public statements, which, according to the Estonian authorities, are a threat to national security.
It is known that the country plans to build a fence on the border with Russia by the end of 2027. In addition, monitoring systems are being built for the Narva River, where they want to build 15 radar locations. The only caveat: the country’s authorities still do not know where to get money for their equipment, including considering several funds from the European Union.
