Estonia is significantly upgrading its air defense capabilities with teh construction of a state-of-the-art radar system on the strategically crucial Hiiumaa Island. The project manager, Steven Linkov, emphasized the system’s strategic importance. Major Tõnis Pärn, head of the Air Surveillance Wing of the Estonian Defense Forces, further highlighted the system’s dual-use capabilities. “This new radar significantly enhances flight safety and maritime rescue efforts,” Pärn explained, “Its extended detection range is a key asset.”
