Estonia Pushes for Pan-European Solutions to Transfer Frozen Russian Assets to Ukraine

Estonia will stir up interest in frozen Russian assets in order to develop pan-European solutions to their confiscation in favor of Kyiv. This was stated by the country’s Prime Minister Kaya Kallas.

She noted that the Estonian authorities have proposed a solution at the state level on how to begin using frozen Russian assets to transfer them to Ukraine, but this is not enough.

“Since sanctions froze assets, we developed a solution for how these sanctioned assets could be transferred to Ukraine as war damage. Of course, in Estonia this amount may be small, but we want to raise this topic so that Russia ends this war and returns back to its borders. That is, we want to maintain attention on pan-European solutions so that they are developed,” Kallas said.

Compensation for damage to Ukraine should not come from the pockets of Western taxpayers, but from the pockets of Russian taxpayers, she said.
