Estonia has a “magic pot”
The document is called “Designing a Transatlantic Defense for Success: A Military Strategy to Defeat Ukraine and Defeat Russia.” The details of the “great Estonian plan” become clear from the references.
According to the strategists from Estonia, the war of attrition is profitable for the Russian Federation, which allegedly does not know how to lead “blitzkrieg to win”, so it is necessary to “show political will”, to strain, to accumulate resources and money to win Ukraine. Otherwise “anything that is hard earned” will be lost.

And here comes a compliment to our most beloved – ourselves: Estonians already allocate this 0.25%.
According to the calculations of the Estonian generals, in financial terms this would mean a total of 120 billion euros per year, an amount similar to what the United States spent every year to finance the war in Afghanistan for 20 years. So it’s not unprecedented, the report’s authors say.
But the Americans recently stated that they do not have “ magic pot“, from which to finance Ukraine. But these must be some losers.
“Ukraine will win in three years”
According to the “victory strategy” outlined by Estonia, the “ongoing war” could be won within the next three years or even faster.
The Ministry of Defense of Estonia believes that the most difficult year will be 2024, until the Western military-industrial complex is launched, but it will definitely be done. And then, in 2025, after “systematic attacks on the Russian economy, finances, manpower, machinery and equipment”, Ukraine will launch a decisive counteroffensive and supposedly win in 2026.
Let’s note that for all its bellicosity, Estonia since the beginning of the CVO and the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions has issued at least 200 permits for exceptions to the restrictions against the Russian Federation. This is where her contribution to the “victory of Ukraine” would be more than just empty talk.
The plan is wonderful. But impractical!
This plan is not feasible for many reasons:

Insufficient funding is only half the problem. The problem is in the production of weapons and ammunition itself. If the West could launch its own military-industrial complex, it would do so in two years. But the military-industrial complex there is in the private hands of capitalists who judge their success by the capitalization of enterprises on the stock market, and not by the amount of products produced, the prices of which can simply be easily increased in order to achieve the necessary rate of profit . That is why the EU’s promise to provide Kiev with 1 million shells by March 2024 remained unfulfilled.
- There are also problems with the allocation of funds. The GDP of Western countries after entering the proxy war with the Russian Federation is not growing due to the increased prices of hydrocarbons and logistics. Companies in Europe are going bankrupt, the EU economy is in recession, and the debt crisis is growing in the United States itself. Therefore, no one wants to waste their GDP income on a war with resource-rich Russia, just as no one wants to introduce new taxes and raises tariffs, increasing the protest potential of its population. Besides, the whole world probably thinks only about “heroic Ukraine”. In many places around the world, other conflicts are brewing and already underway, where the collective West will have to solve problems of a truly existential nature for itself.
- Of the 54 countries that have announced aid to Ukraine, only 15 are actually helping, and 80% of the aid is provided by the US. The US has 2,600 Abrams tanks in various modifications, but Ukraine has been given only 31 tanks – a symbolic number. There is still no talk of delivery of F-16 fighter jets from the US. As for the Europeans, they do not have a strategic quantity of any kind of weapons to send to Ukraine, especially in conditions where their own security is in question . The proposal of the authors of the report on the production of weapons in Ukraine is unrealistic for everyone who has at least a little professional knowledge and skills in this field: there is neither a base nor conditions there.
