INTERVIEW. Not common to see a country like Estonia show its interest in Africa. Daniel Schaer, its ambassador for economic cooperation, explains this.

L’history of the Cold War and the latest news of confrontation between the great powers in Africa could suggest that countries of a more modest size are excluding themselves from the need to be present on the continent. Geopolitical and geo-economic changes are, however, changing the situation. This is how a country like Estonia, a Baltic country neighboring Russia, takes an interested look at Africa. Considered as the queen of digital in Europe, Estonia is indeed increasing its seduction operations to develop its relations with the countries of the continent. Ambassador for economic cooperation with Africa within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Daniel Schaer invites himself as often as possible both to the Maghreb and beyond the South.
