Ester Janečková, the presenter of the popular program Pošta pro tebe, is being tested by a difficult life fate, which is even filmed for the most part. Documentary filmmaker Helena Třeštíková began filming a documentary about a young nurse in 1989. At that time, the high school student still didn’t know she would be famous.
Even while studying at the medical school, Ester was clear that she wanted to be publicly active. Therefore, her steps were directed to DAMU, where she began to study acting and dramaturgy. The tenacious and talented Ester was very soon cast in the Theater on the Railings.
A stellar career
At the age of twenty-three, Ester married the doctor Zdenek, with whom she gave birth to two sons very soon after each other. However, the active mother of two children did not last long at home, she soon started working at Czech Radio. From a recognized medium, she was only a short step away from working on television. After several years, Ester’s wish came true and she started hosting the Politikon program on public television. In the course of the following years, she became the presenter of successful programs such as Sama doma and Pošta pro tebe. Now it belongs to the regulars of Czech Television.
Turbulent years
Ester’s life began to be like on a swing. With a heavy workload came problems at home. Ester and Zdenek’s marriage was shaken by infidelity. The couple endured a difficult period and strengthened their love with the birth of their third child. This time, the Janečeks had their first daughter, whom they named Sára.
After happy moments came two tragedies. Little Sarah’s parents wanted to give her a partner, so Ester got pregnant again. However, the fourth child was stillborn. A year later, Ester lost her nephew. Fourteen-year-old Filip could not come to terms with his homosexual orientation. The boy carefully planned his suicide and wrote a letter to each of his family members before he left. He asked Aunt Ester to start speaking publicly about homosexual issues. Since then, the popular presenter has often appeared at events related to the LGBT community, even started studying psychotherapy and founded a counseling center called Out with Color, which focuses on young people struggling with their sexual orientation.
Fifty
Last year, the star of Czech Television celebrated his fiftieth birthday. On her Instagram, she took stock of over half a century behind her. “I wouldn’t change a minute. When they asked me what I wanted at home, they had a hard time with me because I told them I had everything. And so it is. My biggest dream was a family, and here I have one that I couldn’t imagine even in the most beautiful dreams.” In her post, Ester also remembered her beloved nephew. She admitted that Philip’s death was the worst thing she had experienced in her entire fifty years of life. At the beginning of this year, she pleased her fans with the news that she was going to be a grandmother.
