Esteban Bullrich was one of the 23,000 participants in the half marathon of Buenos Aires carried out this Sunday in the poeteñas streets. The former official and former national senator did so with one objective: to make visible the fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (SHE), a disease he suffers from. After his career, Bullrich himself spread a message through social networks, in which he announced two “mangazos” for solidarity purposes.
Helped by different friends, the former Minister of Education made the route of the international half marathon to get sponsors to contribute funds that allow the realization of a treatment trial against ALS, a disease that he was diagnosed with in 2021. “I ran several marathons and half marathons , but it is the first time that I run with my friends”, Bullrich expressed in a publication of X (ex Twitter).
Along these lines, he added: “I wanted to make visible that with the love of my family and friends nothing is impossible. Today I run a half marathon thanks to that love and I take the opportunity to raise funds for the Foundation. Especially for this new treatment with Interluquina 2, which is giving good results in Europe”. And he stated: “Two more big hits: the first is that despite the generosity of our sponsors we did not reach the goal of financing the trial with Interluquina 2 for 10 patients, obviously I am not among those 10,” he stressed.
“We are missing seven kilometers or 14 million pesos. I ask you to help me,” Bullrich said. He then remarked that the second request was for Interleukin-2 because “it is not manufactured in the country.” “A laboratory is needed to take care of being able to bring it. That would make the process much easier and faster, since time is crucial in the progression of the disease. Total thanks! ”, He concluded.
The competition promotes the inclusive participation of an activity that is part of the international calendar of WA with the category of ‘Label Race’. In addition, it covers the Argentine Half Marathon Championship. In the midst of great athletes from the world elite who were preparing for the start, the category of runners with disabilities was announced by parliament. “Everyone inspires and we all learn from everyone”, were the words that aroused an ovation from the attendees.
The former Minister of the Nation left at 7:00 am along with the other runners from Figueroa Alcorta and Palermo, accompanied by 26 friends who took turns pushing their adapted wheelchair along the 21-kilometre route. Bullrich’s goal was to raise awareness about ALS, raise funds and promote the arrival of a European clinical trial with good results in phase 3 in Argentina.
