This season, Estádio da Luz records the best attendance average in terms of championship in the history of Benfica’s new venue, with the 7 games played at home in the 2023/24 Betclic League having almost 60 thousand spectators in the stands (average of 59,433 per match), being precisely those with the best houses in the entire race. The Reds thus register an occupancy rate of over 90%, a fact that helped the team led by Roger Schmidt to remain undefeated in the seven games they played as hosts for the championship. In a note published on the official website, the Eagles highlight that “more than 67 thousand seats are sold for all games – the more than 64 thousand at Estádio da Luz added to the resale of tickets on the secondary market, which are, on average, above the 3 thousand per match.” “These are made available by members with Red Pass who cannot be present and who contribute to the decrease in the number of empty seats”, explains Benfica. According to the Reds, “the modernized image of the venue, opened at the beginning of 2023, has also enhanced the gaming experience at the Stadium. Benefiting from the two new giant screens, the five digital lines, improved sound and the implementation of the lighting system LED, the pre-game multimedia show has already become one of the highlights of every Benfica fan’s home.” Another highlighted investment is the provision of Wi-Fi, available in all areas of Estádio da Luz.
The game with the highest attendance was the reception against FC Porto, on the 7th round, with 62,247 spectators, closely followed by the derby against Sporting (11th round) which had 62,166 people in the stands. Closing the podium comes the clash with V. Guimarães, counting for the 4th round, which registered a house with 60,410 spectators. Here is the attendance for the remaining championship games played this season in Luz: Famalicão (15th round/58,725 spectators), E. Amadora (2nd/58,479), Casa Pia (9th/57,240) and, finally, Farense (13th/56,766).
