The avian influenza virus was identified on June 11, 2022 on two gulls found dead in the town of Montmartin-sur-mer. Analysis results are pending to confirm the highly pathogenic nature of the virus detected.
The highly pathogenic avian influenza virus, which circulates in Europe, is particularly contagious and pathogenic for birds. Mortalities have been observed in the Somme, Pas-de-Calais then Seine-maritime since the middle of May.
Given the rapid spread of the virus on the coast, the Prefect of the Channel has issued an order aimed at limiting the spread of the virus and preventing the appearance of outbreaks in farms.
A temporary control zone (ZCT) has been defined for a minimum of 21 days. It includes the municipalities of Agon-Coutainville, Annoville, Hauteville-sur-mer, Heugueville-sur-Sienne, Herenguerville, Montmartin-sur-mer, Orval-sur-Sienne, Quettreville-sur-Sienne, Regneville-sur-mer, and Tourville-sur-Sienne.
