Established KICB Scholarship in the name of Kwang Young Choi –

In September 2024, KICB established a scholarship named after Kwang Young Choi, the first chairman of the board of KICB, for applicants and 2-4 year students of higher educational institutions in Kyrgyzstan with the aim of supporting young people aged 16 to 24 years old, aimed at covering the cost of education .

The Bank strives to support talented young people by providing them with the opportunity to acquire their desired profession. Among the scholarship holders are students of such specialties as: “international finance”, “finance and credit”, “Internet technology and management”, “clinical psychology”, “applied mathematics and computer science”, “dentistry”, “accounting” and others. The scholarship was provided to citizens of Kyrgyzstan to pay for tuition for one academic year in educational institutions of the country with a total amount of more than 870 thousand soms, to 16 scholarship holders in 9 different universities of Kyrgyzstan from the 1st to 4th years of study.

KICB is one of the first banks in Kyrgyzstan to firmly adhere to the principles of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development.

Soon there will be a meeting of young students – winners of the competition with members of the bank’s board and other scholarship holders to get acquainted with the bank, its history and values. This scholarship will be permanent, and supporting young people in achieving their goal of obtaining higher education and their dream specialty will be a good basis and example for many other large companies in the country.

Mr. Kwang Young Choi was not only an excellent financier, but also an inspiring leader who trained generations of professional bankers. Having headed KICB for almost 20 years, thanks to his knowledge and vast experience, he was able to make KICB one of the leading players in the financial market of Kyrgyzstan, a symbol of stability, reliability and innovation. After graduating from the College of Commerce at Sogang University in Seoul, Korea, he began his banking career at Korea Exchange Bank (KEB) and worked there for almost 20 years, including in offices in the USA and England.
