He was selling bogus items but received a real conviction. A 35-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday afternoon to 6 months in prison by the criminal court of Évry-Courcouronnes for selling counterfeit luxury or brand products: Christian Dior, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Dolce Gabbana, The North Face … pay more than 15,000 euros to the Dior brand, which has filed a civil action, and more than 8,000 euros to the Vuitton brand.
The seller was captured on March 5th in his warehouse located in Morangis (Essonne). The latter had been placed under police surveillance following an anonymous report explaining that a man nicknamed “Bigleux” was selling counterfeit clothes and leather goods. On the spot, investigators saw the suspect enter the warehouse, followed by another man. The latter left with a plastic bag. Later, another showed up and left with a bag too. This “customer” was arrested. In the bag the police found a fake Prada coat they bought… 50 euros.
1,000 euros of income per month
The customer explained that the seller had a Snapchat account called “Sapologie”, where visitors would pick their items, then pick them up at this 15m2 warehouse in Morangis. Inside, investigators discovered no less than 283 counterfeit items.
The defendant, who did not appear at the hearing, admitted the facts. He explained that he bought these items at the Clignancourt flea market in Saint-Ouen (Seine-Saint-Denis) and that their resale brought him around € 1,000 per month. “It’s a real deal with an online store and warehouse. This gentleman got his income from a perfectly illegal activity, ”summarized the deputy prosecutor who had asked for a firm 10-month sentence regarding the defendant’s criminal record, 11 mentions and his absence on Tuesday.
