ESSLIL: Training in Health, Social, Societal Transformations, and Sociology at the Heart of Lille

Located in the heart of the Vauban campus in Lille, as well as in Maubeuge, ESSLIL prepares for professions and management of human professions, solidarity and societal transformations. Both professional and academic, ESSLIL offers training in social and medico-social work, sociology, management of care and support establishments, and offers new multidisciplinary training called societal transformations: the Bachelor of Science in Human Societies and the Master of Societal Transformations. All training is offered according to a License-Master-Doctorate (LMD) scheme and ESSLIL supports its research activity with the teams of the ETHICS EA 7446 laboratory, a member of the École Doctorale Polytechnique des Hauts-deFrance.

His vocation? Teach and act for the progress and well-being of all, by offering fundamental and applied skills and knowledge, part of an ethical approach. From the start of September 2024students will thus be invited to take up the complex challenges of our time, where everything is linked.

Training courses dedicated to health, social and medico-social

The Catholic Institute of Lille is convinced that it is necessary today to expand to other dimensions: taking care of the planet, living things and human societies in particular. Everything is indeed connected and linked. Thus, the new ESSLIL school at the Catholic University of Lille will offer 4 training courses which will allow students to train in personal care and support activities, while integrating all the dimensions associated with contemporary societal transformations.

The Management of medico-social and social health organizations sector

The Management of health, medico-social and social organizations sector includes a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Social Sciences, a Professional License in Management of health and social structures, as well as a Master’s degree in Management of health, medico-social and social organizations.

The Bachelor of Health and Social Sciences offers a multidisciplinary training offer applied to the health, social and medico-social sectors. It allows students to better understand the issues of public health and social cohesion, and to open up to the professional world by offering French Sign Language courses in particular.

The Professional License Management of health and social structures, accessible at a bac+2 level, provides students with knowledge and techniques so that they acquire expertise and transdisciplinarity in the field of health and the management of health, medico-social and social structures. The challenge is to offer students a balanced course of teaching linked to experiences and internships in a professional environment, to enable them to clarify and build their professional project.

The Master’s degree Management of health, medico-social and social organizations forms, for its part, governance in the field of health, disability and dependency. It intends to provide comprehensive training in the areas of management, ethics and project management, for professionals in health, medico-social and social action, with a focus on the themes of disability and dependency. These are sectors in which future graduates will have to implement complex interventions involving numerous actors with a view to promoting, in interdisciplinarity, the proper functioning of a structure, of a mission, while seeking quality of life. and the social participation of people in vulnerable situations.

The Sociology sector

The Sociology sector offers the school’s students a General Degree in Sociology and two courses in Master’s in Engineering and Social Policy Expertise or Master’s in International Solidarity and Social Work.

The Bachelor of Sociology offers students a sociological culture based on the teaching of the fundamentals of the discipline, but also on specialized teaching applied to the sector of social intervention, education and health. Its opening lessons, as well as the practical training it offers, allow you to concretely approach the professions and social dynamics of these sectors.

The Master in Engineering and Expertise in Social Policies aims, for its part, to train social intervention executives capable of ensuring the translation of public policies into the field of social action and responding to the issues of child protection, disability, old age, education, poverty, health. In the field, this master’s degree aims to train students to define and implement approaches to change and innovation or project development in public organizations, associations, establishments and services to reach new audiences, transform organizations and practices or critically pose the issues. Thus, this master’s degree is oriented towards the professions of social action, management of social structures, coordination of social services, social support, social mediation and the facilitation of life in society.

The Master in International Solidarity and Social Work has, for its part, a triple objective:

– Develop understanding of international relations and major contemporary issues, and engage in the sector of solidarity and development.

– Reconcile the expertise dimension with training oriented towards the practice of project management and communication in an intercultural context while respecting the fundamental principles of ethics.

– Transpose the acquired skills of professionals in the medico-social sector into the international field, so as to support the development of skills in the areas of expertise, project management and international and intercultural communication. All this is based on a partnership with several universities on a European and international scale.

The Bachelor of Science in Human Societies allows students to understand the major issues of the contemporary world by benefiting from multidisciplinary and multimethodological teaching, which addresses and confronts the theoretical analysis frameworks of today’s societal phenomena. Undergraduate courses thus provide a rigorous foundation of knowledge allowing us to understand the major developments of our time.

The Master of Societal Transformations guarantees the multidisciplinary and multimethodological expertise essential for the identification and management of major developments, as well as for the evaluation of the programs and actions implemented. Through advanced fundamental lessons in psycho-economics, human ethology, communication and social marketing, management and management of complex systems, the Master allows students to equip themselves with knowledge aimed at a very good understanding of individual and collective behavior.

The Social Work sector

The Social Service Assistant (ASS) contributes to creating the conditions so that the people, families and groups with whom he works have the means to be actors in their development and to strengthen social bonds and solidarity in their places of life. He thus works with any person, family, child, adolescent, young adult, adult, elderly person or groups. In this context, the Social Service Assistant acts using a global approach to:

• Improve their living conditions on a social, health, family, economic, cultural and professional level.

• Develop their own abilities to maintain or restore their autonomy and facilitate their place in society.

• Contribute to prevention actions, the fight against exclusion, and the development of solidarity.

• Carry out with them any action likely to prevent or overcome their difficulties.

Its intervention aims as much at autonomy as at social inclusion, the maintenance or development of solidarity or social ties, and citizenship education. In the 3rd year, a double degree in Bachelor of Sociology is possible.
