A 31-year-old man died of suffocation in the tram on Friday evening at the Mouzimpré terminus in Essey-lès-Nancy. At around 8 p.m., firefighters were called in to help a person with breathing difficulty. When they arrived, the user was unconscious: he had collapsed after having swallowed his meal askew. The emergency services, supported by a team from the mobile emergency and resuscitation service (Smur) of Nancy, attempted to resuscitate the individual for an hour, in particular by providing cardiac massages. In vain. The young man’s death was confirmed around 9 p.m. The victim took a wrong turn, followed by cardiac arrest.
