Essen: Headphone parties on Kennedyplatz
Essen Marketing has specified its plans for the open air events in the summer. Headphone parties are to take place on two weekends in July on Kennedyplatz – for at least 400 people. From 9 p.m. DJs from some Essen clubs will play. Around 40 parcels will be set up for the guests on Kennedyplatz, in which 10 people can then celebrate. So that nobody feels disturbed, the music is not played over large speakers, but rather over headphones.

“We are pleased that we have created a pandemic-friendly event format for the Essen clubs and DJs, in which they can finally present themselves in public again and celebrate together with their audience,” says Marcus Kalbitzer from the Rockförderverein eV. In 2020 he initiated a merger of clubs and live music venues under the name “Clubs United” and worked together with the EMG and the City of Essen’s Department of Culture for the series of events.
